My Story:

The Adidas Tricolore is the latest innovation by Adidas as they bring on improved versions of match balls year in year out, culminating in a match ball with design that draws inspiration from the host nation.  The Tricolore means three-colored in French and it represents the flag of France while the colored trigons of the Tango design has the cockerel motif as the cockerel (or Gallic rooster) is the unofficial national symbol of France.  The Tricolore would be the first multi-colored ball used in a FIFA World Cup competition.

The finals was held at the Stade de France, Saint-Denis, Paris and France defeated Brazil 3-0 in normal regulation time.

The Official Story:

Softer, faster, more durable, the Equipment Tricolore features the latest cutting edge technology.

Synthetic foam – this high performance ball has a special layer of highly compressible, gas-filled micro-balloons of equal size, that return energy in equal measures at all places.  This makes the ball extremely responsive, and gives high rebound characteristics, which makes the ball faster, and ball flight is more accurate and more predictable.  And, as each micr0-balloon is an individually closed cell bedded in a polyurethane matrix, the ball is more durable.

The first World Cup matchball to feature coloured graphics – rich tones in a design based on the country’s national emblem, symbolise France’s flair and panache.
