My Story:

The second of match balls used in the UEFA Cup final that has its own design and is made by Nike for this event.  The 2008 UEFA Cup final was the final match of the 2007/2008 UEFA Cup season contested between Zenit St. Petersburg of Russia and Glasgow Rangers of Scotland at the City of Manchester Stadium in Manchester, England, which was won 2-0 by Zenit St. Petersburg during normal regulation time.

The design of this ball is unique but it is just a makeover from the previous year’s Mercurial Veloci, which itself is a makeover of the Total 90 Aerow II.  Calling it the Conquest, it does give the UEFA Cup some respect.

The Official Story:

The Conquest’s design features the UEFA Cup trophy and celebrates the history of the competition, with references to the last ten cities to host the final as well as the 2007/08 venue, the City of Manchester Stadium. The high-tech, five-layer design is an important feature. The ball is cross-linked, and nitrogen-expanded foam ensures it stays supple and flexible for a consistent feel in all weather conditions. The compressed polyethylene layer stores energy for optimum release on impact, while the polyester support fabric enhances structure and stability.
