My Story:

This is probably one of the rarest Champions League ball so far since this ball was used at a time where only internationals such as the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA European Champioships had its own distinct match balls.  There were only the Tangos, Aztecas, Etrucos, Questras before this NK 800 Geo came to existence to start a unique match ball experience for the UEFA Champions League series of competitions.  Though Nike lasted only 3 seasons where their branded balls were used in the finals and subsequently overtaken by the Adidas Finales, it started to usher in a new era of Nike dominance in major club football competitions such as the English Premier League, the Italian Serie A and the Spanish La Liga.

There is no FIFA Approved logo but it does state Meets or Exceeds International Matchball Standards and Tested by SGS United Kingdom Limited, Wembley which I believe was the norm for Nike match quality balls of those era.  You may look at the last picture of the exact same ball which was taken at the Manchester United museum in Old Trafford.

As we all know by now on this historical comeback match and treble year for the winning team, the 1999 UEFA Champions League final was the final match of the 1998/1999 UEFA Champions League season contested between Manchester United of England and Bayern Munich of Germany at the Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain, which was famously won 2-1 by Manchester United in normal regulation time.  Manchester United actually scored 2 goals in injury time to choke Bayern Munich hearts.

The Official Story:

Was there ever one back in those days where Nike may have advertised for the generic NK 800 Geos but I doubt ever there was one for this ball.
