Nike Geo Merlin 2000 UEFA Champions League Final

This Nike Geo Merlin Brown Black version was different in color scheme from the Blue Grey versions used in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, and specifically used in the finals held in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, France. The 2000 UEFA Champions League final was the final match of the 1999/2000 UEFA Champions League season contested between Real Madrid and Valencia of Spain at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, Paris, which was won 3-0 by Real Madrid in normal regulation time. This was the last time that a Nike match ball would grace a UEFA Champions League match of such occasion or almost any other major Champions League game as Adidas wrestled this right away with a stranglehold of a grip using the Adidas Finale series of match balls.

Maybe it was not a pity after all considering the Adidas Finale balls have become an icon in itself with the star designs and is synonimous with the UEFA Champions League. Had Nike continued to supply the UEFA Champions League balls, we would have been looking at versions like the Total 90 Aerow versions, the Total 90 Omni and the Total 90 Ascente. Contrast this to the Finales rolled out so far, things certainly look less exclusive.

Made in Pakistan.

I have definitely not seen one for this ball so we should make do with one for the generic Nike Geo Merlin.
